Jack Calareso

Jack is the founder and managing member of The Calareso Law Firm, PLLC.  Throughout his nearly 20 year legal career, Jack has dedicated his practice to helping his clients achieve their goals in all aspects of business and commercial litigation, business transactions, trust and estate litigation, and commercial real estate transactions.

Jack has successfully advised and represented clients, ranging from individuals and small businesses to FORTUNE 500 companies, government entities, and not-for-profit corporations, in a diverse array of matters.

He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, as well as in the United States District Courts for all of the federal districts in New York.  Jack is also admitted to and has appeared before the United States Supreme Court.

Before opening The Calareso Law Firm, Jack was a partner at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP where he focused his practice on federal and state civil litigation, and prior to that, he was Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York.

Jack is a graduate of The Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.  

He currently is an elected member of the Board of Education of the Niskayuna Central School District.

He is a past participant in the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce's (formerly the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce) CAPITAL Leadership program and former member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, Capital District YMCA, and St. Catherine's Center for Children Foundation.

Jack is "AV Preeminent" rated by Martindale-Hubbell, signifying the highest possible rating in legal ability and ethical standards. He has also been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star and as a Super Lawyer in Upstate New York -- a distinction conferred upon only 5% of the attorneys in Upstate New York.

Amanda A. Maleszweski

Amanda focuses her practice on all aspects of commercial and general civil litigation and employment law throughout the State of New York.

Amanda has over 10 years of trial and litigation experience in both federal and state courts as well as before administrative agencies, such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the U.S. and New York Departments of Labor, the New York Workers’ Compensation Board and the New York Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board.

In addition to administrative and litigation representation, Amanda provides strategic advice to help clients manage their legal risks while advancing their business and strategic objectives. She advises senior management in a variety of matters, including governance, contracts, internal investigations and corporate best practices.  Amanda prepares and reviews corporate bylaws, policies and procedures, handbooks, and other guidance documents. She has successfully negotiated executive employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, leases, license agreements, service agreements, and separation and settlement agreements.

Before joining The Calareso Law Firm, PLLC, Amanda was in-house counsel with The Research Foundation for The State University of New York where she managed the corporation’s commercial, intellectual property and employment-based litigation in addition to handling a wide portfolio of legal and policy issues concerning SUNY’s sponsored research and commercialization efforts.  Prior to working with the SUNY System, Amanda was an associate at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, LLP where she focused her practice on federal and state civil litigation, and before that, she was an Appellate Court Attorney with the Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department.

Amanda earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Union College and her law degree from Albany Law School, magna cum laude

Paralegal and Office Administrator

Donna M. Shappy

Donna is an experienced Office Administrator and Paralegal.  She is adept in real estate transactional support and has several years of experience with business and corporate matters, trust and estate work, and litigation support. 

She is a Past President of the Capital District Paralegal Association, Inc., having served on the Board of Directors for 5 years.  She has provided assistance to The Legal Project, with the preparation and execution of Estate Planning Documents, and has served the community by participating in other events.  Donna participates in various Continuing Legal Education seminars and professional development activities.
